Plans have been submitted for a new mini-golf course at the popular Hollywood Bowl in Teesside Park. The premises license application, made to Middlesbrough Council, includes floor plans that reveal the proposed location of the golf course, which could replace a section of arcade machines. The plans also offer a glimpse of potential hole designs, including one inspired by a pinball machine.
Puttstars, the mini-golf concept by Hollywood Bowl Group, has already launched in Leeds, Rochdale, and York. The introduction of a Puttstars venue at Teesside Park would provide visitors with a new indoor entertainment option. The floor plans indicate that the mini-golf course would have its own dedicated area within the Hollywood Bowl complex, complete with a check-in desk and separate entrance and exit points.
While details about the current arcade section are unclear if the plans are approved, a pool area is highlighted on the floor plans near the entrance. The proposed extension seems to be a part of Hollywood Bowl’s ongoing efforts to enhance the customer experience at their venues. According to the current license, the Teesside Park location closes at 11pm every day except for Fridays and Saturdays when it stays open until midnight. However, the license application requests revised opening hours from 10am to 1am daily, with the sale of alcohol permitted from 10am to midnight.
A spokesperson for Hollywood Bowl expressed their commitment to providing an outstanding experience for visitors. They mentioned having exciting plans for the Teesside Park location and promised to share more information in the coming months. In 2015, Hollywood Bowl underwent an extensive renovation worth half a million pounds, including a complete redesign and the addition of new features such as booths and a cocktail bar.
There were previous concerns in 2021 that the leisure park might be transformed into an industrial development housing warehouses and logistics units. There were even suggestions of demolishing the bowling alley and Showcase Cinema. However, Hollywood Bowl clarified that they had no intention of moving from their current location, stating their involvement in the consultation process regarding the proposed development.
