In 2022, police told the family that they are keeping the case on hold; a year later they said they were closing it. In Feb 2023, Ganesh filed a petition in Saidapet court stating that he was not willing to close the case. Within six months, a police team headed by an additional deputy commissioner in the CAWC (crime against women and children) wing resumed work on the case. The new investigation team created an AI-based image of the child.
We generated an image of how the girl would look now. The parents also feel she would be looking like the generated image. We are trying our best to trace her, says a senior police officer.
