PARADISE, Calif. — The Town of Paradise’s 911 dispatch center is now fully operational, marking a significant milestone since the devastating 2018 Camp Fire. Following the fire, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) had been providing assistance to the Paradise Police Department (PPD) with dispatch services after losing their primary radio network and staffing. However, after years of recovery, the PPD has resumed operations seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with plans to transition to 24/7 service by the end of June.

Lieutenant Anthony Borgman of the Paradise Police Department emphasized the importance of being a reliable resource for local residents in need of assistance. So far, all of our dispatchers are local people, they all have their own experiences with the Camp Fire, said Borgman. He further emphasized that the dispatchers’ personal connection with the community allows them to better understand and empathize with the challenges faced by residents. Borgman acknowledged the contributions of new staff members in achieving this significant progress, but also stated that the department is actively seeking to hire additional dispatchers and other necessary positions.

To apply for positions within the Paradise Police Department, interested individuals can find more information on their official website. The department continues to focus on further improving its services and meeting the needs of the community.

The restoration of the fully operational 911 dispatch center is a crucial development for the people of Paradise. The resumption of round-the-clock services will undoubtedly provide additional peace of mind to residents, ensuring prompt responses to emergencies. With the dispatchers’ firsthand knowledge of the local community and their personal experiences with the Camp Fire, the quality of service is expected to be enhanced.

As the Paradise Police Department embraces its renewed capabilities, the community can look forward to increased safety and improved emergency response. The achievement of this milestone is a testament to the resilience and perseverance of the residents and the dedicated efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved.

The reopening of the dispatch center marks a significant step forward in the recovery process for the town of Paradise. Through their commitment to providing efficient and reliable emergency services, the Paradise Police Department continues to play an integral role in restoring normalcy to the community. As they work towards expanding their staff, the department remains dedicated to its mission of safeguarding the well-being of Paradise residents.
