Pakistan Urges Afghanistan to Prevent Terrorism on its Soil, Stands in Solidarity with Kashmiris

Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to engage with Afghanistan on all matters concerning cooperation and mutual concerns, particularly in relation to the threats posed by terrorism. In a press briefing held by the Foreign Office spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, she called upon Afghan authorities to fulfill their pledge of not allowing their soil to be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

Baloch emphasized that it is Afghanistan’s responsibility to ensure that its land is not exploited to launch attacks against Pakistan. She mentioned that Afghan authorities have previously accepted this responsibility on multiple occasions. Strengthening bilateral relations and tackling the issue of terrorism collectively is of utmost importance, and Pakistan expects Afghanistan to honor its commitments in this regard.

Shifting her focus to the situation in Indian-held Kashmir, Baloch condemned the unabated repression and violence inflicted upon the Kashmiri people since August 5, 2019. She conveyed that over 780 Kashmiris have lost their lives at the hands of the occupation forces. Despite India’s long-standing oppressive tactics, Baloch highlighted the resilience and determination of the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination.

Pakistan stands firmly with its Kashmiri brethren in their just fight against Indian oppression, reiterating their right to self-determination as enshrined in the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. Baloch called for global support in recognizing and addressing the plight of the Kashmiri people, emphasizing the need for their voices to be heard.

Responding to a question regarding the Indus Water Treaty, Baloch affirmed its significance as an important document that has benefited both Pakistan and India. She reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its full implementation and expressed hope that India would uphold the treaty as well.

Baloch also highlighted the recent adoption of a historic resolution by the United Nations Human Rights Council, presented by Pakistan on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The resolution strongly condemned any promotion of religious hatred, including the recent desecration of the Holy Quran. It emphasized the necessity of holding the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

Expressing disappointment, Baloch stated that despite the resolution’s balanced and apolitical nature, it was put to vote on false grounds, derailing the council’s consensus. Pakistan shares the frustration of OIC member states over this outcome and believes that the Human Rights Council should speak with one voice in addressing Islamophobia and xenophobia. Baloch affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to raising global awareness and fostering interfaith dialogue, harmony, and peaceful coexistence.

In other news, Azerbaijan’s Minister for Digital Development and Transport is set to embark on a three-day visit to Pakistan next week. During the visit, the minister will engage with counterparts from various Pakistani ministries to explore opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the areas of connectivity and information technology.

Pakistan continues its efforts to strengthen ties with other nations, boost connectivity, and promote technological advancements, keeping pace with the rapidly evolving global landscape.

Pakistan remains dedicated to combatting terrorism, supporting the rights of oppressed people, and fostering international partnerships for the greater welfare of all.
