Pakistan Aims for Zero Power Theft, End to Load Shedding
Pakistan’s Federal Secretary for Power Division, Rashid Mahmood Langrial, recently announced the government’s determination to eliminate power theft and bring an end to load shedding in the country. Speaking in an exclusive interview with ptv news channel, Langrial emphasized the need for citizens’ cooperation in the nationwide drive against power theft, which is essential for improving energy supply.
Langrial commended the citizens of Mardan city for their significant contribution to making the city load shedding free. Mardan, which previously faced challenges of power theft, has successfully curbed this illegal practice by 100 percent. The Zero-Theft, Zero-Load-shedding initiative in Mardan serves as a model for other cities and regions, showcasing the positive impact of targeted measures to combat power theft and ensure a reliable electricity supply.
In order to tackle power theft effectively, the Ministry of Power Division has established a central control room to monitor the ongoing campaign against this illegal activity. Langrial emphasized that eliminating power theft is crucial for ending load shedding across the country. The effects of power theft, combined with the non-payment of bills, have resulted in higher electricity prices for law-abiding citizens. Thus, addressing power theft is essential to ensure fair and affordable electricity rates for all.
The government’s action plan focuses on identifying and penalizing those involved in power theft while urging citizens to report any suspicious activities related to electricity theft. By targeting power theft, Pakistan aims to provide a reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply to its citizens, enabling economic growth and improved living standards nationwide.
The successful efforts in Mardan serve as an inspiration for the rest of the country. As Pakistan continues its drive against power theft, it is imperative for citizens to support these initiatives, report any instances of power theft, and fulfill their responsibility by paying electricity bills promptly. With collective efforts, Pakistan aims to achieve its goal of zero power theft and put an end to load shedding, ensuring a brighter future for the nation.
