The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has issued a summons to the Home Department over anomalies that emerged in the Comptroller and Auditor General of India’s report. The PAC directed the Arts and Culture Department to come up with guidelines for selecting artistes and inviting tenders to select such groups. PAC Chairman Saleng A. Sangma said they were also expecting to summon other departments on anomalies also reflected in the report. The issue arose when some anomalies were detected in the Home Department in relation to the development of 35 different schemes, which have now been reduced to 13. Although the state has already used its resources to adjust the necessary funds to complete the planned infrastructure, the department lost around INR 25 crore due to delays in land acquisition.
