Over 50,000 yoga enthusiasts participated in yoga sessions organized by various government institutions, corporate houses, and sports clubs in Jamshedpur to celebrate the 9th International Yoga Day (IYD). The event was a grand success and witnessed a great turnout of yoga lovers of all age groups. The major attraction of the event was the session organized by Tata Steel sports department at the JRD Tata Sports Complex stadium. It was an hour-long event held under the guidance of renowned yoga expert Arvind Kumar. With the IYD initiative, the central government has given a special push to yoga, and hence, there has been a rise in the number of yoga lovers in the city.
The Tinplate Company in association with Satsang Seva Sangh organized another successful program at the Tinplate sports ground in Golmuri. The event was graced by a good turnout of yoga enthusiasts who participated whole-heartedly. According to renowned yoga teacher Manish Sinha, with each passing year, the number of yoga lovers in the city is increasing.
The IYD event organized by BJP at Gudia maidan in Burmamines saw the participation of the ex-chief minister Raghubar Das and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Mahato. The event was a grand success, and the yoga performance gave enthusiasts a unique chance to follow in their footsteps. The IYD initiative, observed even by our Prime Minister at the United Nations (UN) headquarters, holds special significance this year.
The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and the Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) also organized events at Birsa Munda town hall in Sidhgora and at Subernarekha riverbank, respectively. The events were received with much enthusiasm and had an encouraging participation rate. Special officer Suresh Yadav appealed to the participating crowd to contribute to making Mango clean and green.
Overall, the event witnessed a massive turnout of people, and it’s a positive sign that yoga is growing at a rapid pace in the city. Different kinds of yoga poses like surya namaskar, annulom-vilom, gomukhasan, kapalbhati pranayam, mandukasan, bhujangaasan, and markat asan were practised by the participants. Yoga helps build physical and mental health and should be practiced in a clean place.
