The government of Odisha mobilized additional doctors and ambulances for the rescue and treatment of those injured in the tragic accident of two express trains in Balasore district on Friday evening. With over 200 passengers seriously injured, officials said that 50 doctors from various government hospitals have been sent to Balasore to provide medical care. A team of doctors from SCB Medical College and Hospital, along with Cuttack Medical College, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and private hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have also been mobilized. Hospitals en route from Balasore to Cuttack have been made ready to receive patients. In addition, a 100-bed hospital and a dedicated ambulance corridor have been set up at SCB Medical College and Hospital and neighboring districts have been asked to mobilize lightweight stretchers, body carriers and bedsheets. All mortuaries have been put on standby. All required first-aid consumables, drugs, and IV fluids are in sufficient stock, and the Central Drug Warehouse in Bhubaneswar is ready to dispatch drugs and consumables as needed. The NDRF, ODRAF, and Odisha Fire Service, along with several volunteer organizations, are conducting the rescue operations.
