Over 4,800 Candidates Sit BECE in Sunyani: Education Director Urges Independent Work to Ensure Success
A total of 4,856 candidates, consisting of 2,333 boys and 2,523 girls, are set to write this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Sunyani Municipality. Mr. Mark Godfred Doma, the Sunyani Municipal Director of Education, revealed these statistics during an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani.
The candidates are drawn from 63 public and 57 private schools in the Municipality and will be writing the examination in 14 centers. The examination will be overseen by 14 supervisors and 18 assistant supervisors, along with 166 invigilators. Mr. Doma emphasized the importance of independent work and urged the candidates to steer clear of any form of malpractices.
In order to ensure the best performance, Mr. Doma directed the supervisors and invigilators to avoid engaging in any actions that could intimidate or impact the candidates negatively. He further advised the candidates to approach the examination with confidence and boldness. It is crucial for them to understand that the BECE questions are not beyond what they have been taught in their schools. Mr. Doma also cautioned the candidates against using unauthorized materials during the examination.
Furthermore, Mr. Doma warned the candidates about the consequences of exam malpractices. He reminded them that engaging in such practices could result in the cancellation of their papers and examination results, which in turn would hinder their educational progress and future aspirations.
