More than 2,000 tourists who were stranded due to flash floods in the Indian state of Sikkim have been rescued, according to local authorities. Heavy rains caused the floods, which left the tourists trapped in the state’s northern district. After being alerted to the situation, the National Disaster Response Force formed a rescue team, which was able to evacuate the tourists. While the tourists are safe, the flooding has caused damage to roads and infrastructure in the area.
Meanwhile, in Uganda, around 40 people – mostly students – have been killed in a terrorist attack on a school. The attackers, who were armed with guns and grenades, stormed the school in the early hours of the morning, before opening fire on students and staff.
