Over 100 kg of Opium Valued Over Rs 1.5 Crores Seized from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh Authorities Make Arrests

A team from the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) recently seized over 100 kilograms of opium worth more than Rs 1.5 crore, along with 1269.10 kilograms of poppy straw and cash at Bangera Ghata village in Nimbahera tehsil of Chittorgarh district. Acting on a tip-off, the team found the items in a house in the village and seized them under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act, 1985. In another seizure, the CBN team intercepted a truck carrying over 2500 kg of poppy straw near a hotel in Gujarat’s Vadodara. The team apprehended one person and seized the truck, along with the poppy straw and a cover load of dried red chilli. The seized items are valued at over Rs 1.5 crore. Investigations are ongoing in both cases.
