A 44-year-old resident of Wakad has reported the theft of jewellery worth Rs 7.6 lakhs from his luggage during his return journey from London. The incident occurred between December 9 and December 11, prompting the complainant to file a complaint with the Wakad Police Station in Pune.
The complainant informed the police that he had handed over four bags of luggage, which were not sealed, to Saudia Airlines upon leaving London. These bags contained a variety of items, including clothes, perfume, chocolates, electrical appliances, and gold ornaments weighing 152 grams. However, upon reaching Mumbai airport, the passenger discovered that his bags were missing. He immediately reported the incident and provided the bag identification details to the authorities at Mumbai airport.
Speaking about the incident, the complainant expressed his shock and disappointment at the loss of his valuable jewellery. He stated, I never expected such a theft to occur during my journey. It is devastating to lose jewellery worth Rs 7.6 lakhs. I hope the police can quickly investigate and recover my belongings.
The Wakad Police Station has registered a case of theft and initiated an investigation into the matter. The police will examine CCTV footage from Mumbai airport and interrogate the staff of Saudia Airlines to determine the sequence of events leading to the disappearance of the complainant’s luggage.
Inspector Rahul Deshmukh, who is leading the investigation, assured the complainant of a prompt and thorough inquiry. He said, We have taken this matter seriously and will leave no stone unturned in our investigation. We will analyze the CCTV footage from the airport and interview the airline staff to gather all the necessary information. We are determined to catch the culprits and recover the stolen jewellery.
