Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has denied the opposition’s claims that AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala attended an official meeting of the Karnataka government. The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) criticized the Congress for allowing Surjewala to attend the meeting. The BJP tweeted a photograph that showed Surjewala along with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and other members of the legislative assembly. JDS leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy criticized Surjewala and asked who gave him permission to attend a government meeting. Siddaramaiah clarified that the meeting was not an official government meeting and that it was attended by MLAs. The meeting was about the upcoming election, he added. However, Kumaraswamy questioned whether the government was led by Siddaramaiah or the High Command in Delhi.
