Opposition Bloc Plans Rallies in Odisha to Protest Unfulfilled Promises by State and Centre
The opposition bloc INDIA is gearing up to stage demonstrations in the state of Odisha to express their discontent with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and the BJD dispensation in the state. The protests aim to highlight the failure of both parties to fulfill their promises to the people of Odisha. According to Sarat Pattanayak, the president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), the Naveen Patnaik government and the Centre have let down the people.
In a meeting held on Friday evening, all the anti-BJD and anti-BJP parties came together to plan protest rallies. The opposition bloc INDIA will commence with Janakrosh rallies in Rayagada and Balasore on November 8 and 15 respectively, said Pattanayak. Further demonstrations will follow in other parts of the state in the coming days.
Pattanayak asserted that under the ruling BJD government, Odisha has become a poor state since it failed to address key issues such as unemployment, forcing many to migrate in search of work. The lack of safe drinking water, scarcity of doctors in hospitals, and the distressing situation faced by farmers leading to suicides were also highlighted as concerns by the Congress leader.
Adding to the grievances, Pattanayak accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre of reneging on its promise to provide employment opportunities for the youth. He further criticized the central government for its inability to control the rise in prices of essential commodities.
With residents of Odisha feeling let down by the state and central governments, the opposition bloc is mobilizing support to voice their concerns and demand action.
