The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government in Odisha is facing backlash over alleged corruption in the power distribution sector. Both the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have accused the government of a Rs 15,000 crore scam in the sector. The BJP has demanded an investigation by a central agency into the alleged scam, alleging that infrastructure worth only Rs 5,000 crore was made available on the ground despite the government claiming it had invested Rs 20,000 crore in the power distribution system. Meanwhile, Congress workers and leaders staged a protest at the GRIDCO office in Bhubaneswar.
