OpenAI is set to launch its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, for Android users later this week, allowing them to finally experience the conversational capabilities of the popular AI system. The announcement was made by OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, through a tweet on July 22. OpenAI has also provided a pre-order page on the Google Play Store for interested users to register and be notified when the application becomes available for installation.

The Android launch of ChatGPT comes approximately two months after its release for iOS users in May. While the company has not specified the exact timeline for the Android rollout, it is expected to initially be available in the United States.

Android users eagerly awaiting the launch can now register for pre-order on the Google Play Store. Upon signing up, users will receive a notification as soon as the app is live and ready for use.

OpenAI plans to introduce a new feature called customized instructions in the ChatGPT app, empowering users to provide specific instructions or information to the chatbot. This information will then be stored in the app for future conversations, allowing users to have more control over their interactions with the AI chatbot. Currently, this feature is in the Beta stage and available only for Plus plan subscribers, but OpenAI aims to make it accessible to all users in the near future.

OpenAI has been actively working to enhance the safety and transparency of its tools, implementing measures such as content watermarking. However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential for misinformation generated by AI systems like ChatGPT.

As part of recent updates, OpenAI integrated Bing search results exclusively for Plus plan users, making it easier for them to access information directly within the app. Additionally, the history search feature has been improved, allowing users to review past conversations with the chatbot and continue discussions seamlessly.

In summary, OpenAI is set to launch ChatGPT for Android users, bringing the AI chatbot experience to a wider audience. The new customized instructions feature will give users more control over their interactions, and OpenAI continues to prioritize safety and transparency in its AI tools. The Bing integration and upgraded history search feature further enhance the user experience.
