Oklahoma National Guard Deployed to Southern Border to Combat Drugs and Smuggling
A group of 50 Oklahoma National Guardsmen and women have bid farewell to their families and embarked on a mission to the southern border. All we’re doing is trying to secure our southern border, he stated. The troops, who will be away from their families for 30 days, are committed to supporting law enforcement and border operations as part of Operation Lone Star.
We are incredibly proud of our men and women in uniform who are stepping up to lead and help ensure the security of our state and nation, said Governor Stitt. Oklahoma Senator James Lankford echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the guardsmen’s dedication to serving their country. He commended their commitment to stand up and lend a hand.
Specialist Reese Hart of the Oklahoma National Guard expressed their excitement to contribute to the mission. It’s super exciting, I can’t tell you how excited I am to get down there and just lend a hand, Hart stated. The deployment marks a significant sacrifice for the soldiers, who will be away from their loved ones during this time.

State officials have also revealed the possibility of another deployment to the southern border in 2024.
