Oklahoma High School Football Championships: Early Predictions for State Title Contenders

With the Oklahoma high school football state championships just 97 days away, teams across the state are already gearing up for a shot at the coveted gold trophies. While it may seem premature to start making predictions, the excitement and motivation for state titles are already fueling the top contenders.

In each classification, there are standout teams that are expected to be strong contenders for the state title. Here are the way-too-early championship predictions for each classification:

In Class 6A-I, the Bixby Spartans are the team to watch. With their powerhouse status solidified last season as they claimed another state title, they are determined to maintain their winning streak. Although they have some key positions to fill, the Spartans have proven time and again that they have what it takes to come out on top.

For Class 6A-II, the Stillwater Pioneers are the front-runners. It’s a tough call between Stillwater and Muskogee, but the Pioneers have the slight advantage due to their experience as last year’s state champions and the return of star running back Holden Thompson. However, the Roughers should not be counted out as they are expected to give Stillwater a run for their money.

Moving on to Class 5A, the Carl Albert Titans are predicted to dominate once again. With a star-studded roster last season and the addition of junior quarterback Kevin Sperry, the Titans are expected to be an even stronger force to reckon with this year. They are truly a superteam in every sense of the word.

In Class 4A, the defending champions, Wagoner Bulldogs, are the team to beat. After a stunning victory over Cushing in the state finals last year, the Bulldogs have proven their mettle and are determined to retain their title. With players like Witt Edwards and Kale Charboneau leading the way, Wagoner is poised for another successful season.

In Class 3A, the Heritage Hall Chargers are the favorites to come out on top. Despite the graduation of powerful running back River Faulkner, the Chargers have retained much of their talent from last season’s title-winning team. Quarterback Andy Bass and receiver/defensive back Jordyn Harris are expected to make a significant impact and lead the team to victory once again.

For Class 2A, the Millwood Falcons are driven by their desire to avenge their loss to Washington in the championship game last year. With a versatile roster and the guidance of championship coach Darwin Franklin, the Falcons are determined to raise the trophy this time around.

In Class A, Hominy Bucks are predicted to have a big season. After an impressive run last year, falling just short of the finals, the Bucks are motivated to go further this time. Led by senior Jaxon Woods, Hominy is expected to make a strong push for the state title.

Moving to Class B, the Fairview Yellowjackets are the team to watch. Quarterback Jax Bernard had an outstanding sophomore season and is expected to perform even better with more experience under his belt. Undefeated and reigning champions, Fairview looks poised for another successful campaign.

In Class C, the Laverne Tigers are aiming for a three-peat. Led by star player Felix Teal, the Tigers have been dominant over the past few years and are determined to maintain their winning streak. Though they may have a target on their backs, Laverne possesses the talent and drive to secure yet another title.

Lastly, in Class D, Waynoka Railroaders are eager to redeem themselves after falling short in the championship game last year. Motivated by their narrow defeat, Waynoka is seeking redemption and will be a force to be reckoned with this season.

As the countdown to the Oklahoma high school football state championships continues, these early predictions provide an early glimpse into the potential title contenders for each classification. However, in the world of football, surprises are always possible, and underdogs can rise to the occasion. It is sure to be an exciting and unpredictable season, and football fans across the state eagerly anticipate the action that lies ahead.
