India’s largest power utility, NTPC, has partnered with Ohmium International, a green hydrogen company, on the largest-ever proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer deal in India. Ohmium’s India-based subsidiary will be NTPC’s preferred supplier of PEM electrolyzers for a two-year period ending in May 2025. Ohmium’s innovative technology will be used in a range of commercial and industrial applications, including ammonia, transportation, and power, among others. The modular electrolyzers are expected to help NTPC achieve its ambitious target of delivering 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 with 5 GW of renewable energy allocated for green hydrogen and ammonia production. Ohmium’s technology produces green hydrogen at a competitive cost, making it an ideal solution for integrating renewable energy resources. The partnership is expected to help India establish itself as a green hydrogen powerhouse.
