Following heavy rainfall on June 21, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) inspected 15 areas struggling with flooding issues. Among the inspected spots were Ambiance Mall pondage area, Narsinghpur, Sector 15 part 2, Subhash Chowk, Vyapar Kendra Road, and Hero Honda Chowk.
A GMDA representative confirmed that efforts were being made to address the issues, with pumping machinery installed at Narsinghpur to mitigate the service lane’s waterlogging problem. Currently, five fuel stations are available, but GMDA is adding a 50 HP pump and three 70 HP pumps to boost pumping capacity by 260 HP.
The CEO of GMDA directed the immediate deployment of additional pumps and requested that larger-capacity pumps and pipelines are installed during the monsoon season. In addition, the agency has instructed workers to use pumps to remove stormwater from the service road on the highway’s opposite side, which is affecting Sector 15 Part 2’s stormwater flow.
Last year, civil authorities created pondage areas on both sides of Ambiance Mall to minimize waterlogging concerns in the underpass near Ambiance Mall and the surrounding region. MCG personnel were also requested to remove choked drains and water channels as a top priority, and action has been instituted against those who illegally dump C&D waste in MCG land.
