NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it will showcase a range of groundbreaking technologies, including several world-firsts, at the upcoming docomo Open House’24 exhibition in Tokyo. The event, scheduled for January 17 and 18, will provide a platform for DOCOMO to unveil a total of 31 innovative technologies covering 5G Evolution, 6G, Generative AI, and more.

Among the technologies to be showcased, one notable highlight is the integration of sub-terahertz bandwidth for ultra-high-capacity communication over 100Gbps. In terms of network capabilities, DOCOMO will showcase next-generation cloud slicing and 5GC on AWS (Amazon Web Services), a solution that addresses specific network needs. The innovative approach combines end-to-end orchestration, quality-of-service (QoS) visualization and monitoring, and 5G Core from AWS to deliver flexible network quality tailored to specific locations and time scenarios. This integration of the cloud and on-demand network quality aims to create highly sustainable networks.
Recognizing the importance of 5G in industrial settings, DOCOMO has developed a portable simulator to address diverse mobile needs. This advanced simulator allows for the visualization of 5G wireless transmission characteristics and electromagnetic interference effects in various industrial environments. By providing comprehensive analysis and multi-dimensional verification, DOCOMO aims to further expand the implementation of 5G in the industrial sector.
DOCOMO’s commitment to Generative AI is also highlighted at the exhibition, with a world-first technology that enlivens the metaverse through the creation of non-player characters. By utilizing generative AI to automatically generate appearance, behavior, and role of characters, DOCOMO eliminates the need for specialized expertise.
