The National Students Union of India (NSUI) has lodged a protest against the Gujarat University in Ahmedabad. According to the students’ organization, the university flouted proper procedure while admitting students to the animation department. Unlike the online process that was followed for admissions in other departments, the NSUI alleges that students were admitted into the animation department without following due procedure.
The NSUI has accused the university of not taking academic council permission before beginning new courses, including the animation course. They also claim that the university is charging students between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh to participate in courses that primarily benefit a few teachers and officials at the university.
In light of these allegations, members of the NSUI submitted a memorandum to the vice chancellor demanding accountability and clarity on the matter. The NSUI hopes that this protest will bring attention to the improper procedures used to enroll animation department students, and encourages the university to adopt a more equitable and just system moving forward.
