Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has accepted the resignation of Santosh Suman, SC/ST Welfare Minister of the Hindustani Awam Morcha. Suman, the son of former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, resigned due to Nitish Kumar’s proposal to merge his party into JD-U, which was not acceptable to him. His party was also not invited to the opposition party’s meeting on June 23, making him resign from his post. As a replacement, Nitish Kumar has called JD-U Dalit MLA Ratnesh Sada for a meeting at his residence and is planning to expand his cabinet soon, offering him the SC/ST Welfare Ministry. Sada, who won the 2020 assembly election by defeating a Congress candidate, expressed his gratitude towards Nitish Kumar for calling him and accepting whatever responsibility given to him. If Sada gets the chance, he would be the third Dalit minister in the Nitish cabinet from the JD-U quota, after Ashok Chaudhary and Sunil Kumar.
