Seven Nigerian Startups Selected for TechCrunch Battlefield 2023

Seven Nigerian startups have been chosen to participate in the prestigious TechCrunch Startup Battlefield 200 at the upcoming TechCrunch Disrupt conference in 2023. This invitation-only cohort consists of game-changing early-stage startups from various industries, including fintech, SaaS, AI, machine learning, and blockchain. The selected startups are Akowe, Alusoft Technologies Ltd, Bus54, Famasi Ltd, Flowmono, Foris Labs, and Genesis 360.

Taking place in San Francisco, USA, from September 19 to 21, the TechCrunch Disrupt conference offers a platform for startup founders to showcase their innovations to potential investors. The participating startups also have an opportunity to compete for funding and mentorship opportunities. The event aims to highlight the most promising startups with the potential to impact industries worldwide.

TechCrunch expanded its Startup Battlefield last year to accommodate the rapidly evolving technological landscape across different regions and sectors. It received thousands of applications from around the world for the Startup Battlefield 200. Each application went through a meticulous review process by the TechCrunch editorial team. The selected startups not only represent the advancements in AI, but also disruptive solutions in biotech, healthcare, climate tech, and other sectors. The volatility of global financial markets also contributed to innovations in the fintech space.

The seven Nigerian startups chosen to participate in the TechCrunch Startup Battlefield will have access to pitch training, mentorship programs, and opportunities to connect with venture capitalists and industry experts. They will receive complimentary exhibition space and have the chance to attend masterclasses, private receptions, and investor meet and greets. Additionally, they will compete for a $100,000 equity-free prize and the chance to win the prestigious Disrupt Cup.

In addition to the Nigerian startups, nine other African startups secured spots among the 200 selected for pitch presentations and competitions. These include Bizzyn, a Tanzanian fintech platform, as well as Omnisient, LIMA, AppCyclers, Duhqa Ltd, FinanceGPT, Flexpay Technologies, KSOC, and Kyuka Ventures Innovation Hub. The list also features startups from countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, India, France, Germany, China, and the United Kingdom, reflecting a global representation across all continents.

The TechCrunch Disrupt conference offers participants not only a chance to pitch their ideas but also access to exclusive events, demo booths, and digital forums designed for Startup Battlefield founders. The competition will culminate in the selection of 20 finalists who will present their innovations in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. These finalists will then compete for the $100,000 prize and the coveted Disrupt Cup.

TechCrunch remains committed to highlighting the achievements of early-stage startups and fostering innovation within the tech industry. The Startup Battlefield 200 provides a valuable platform for emerging startups to gain exposure, connect with investors, and transform their ideas into reality. With its focus on founders, investors, and the future of technology, TechCrunch continues to shape the startup ecosystem and push the boundaries of technological advancements.
