Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL) has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Assam to supply 492.72 megawatts (MW) to the State from its thermal power plant in Kanpur. The facility has a capacity of 1,320 MW. The PPA was signed between NUPPL’s CEO and Assam Power Distribution Company’s (APDCL) Chief General Manager (Commercial & EE) in Guwahati. The energy supply will help meet the growing demand for electricity in Assam and contribute to the development and progress of various sectors in the State. The project will also support industrial growth, improve the quality of life for residents, promote entrepreneurship, and attract further investments to the region. In February 2023, the power allocation from NUPPL’s Ghatampur TPP was revised, and Uttar Pradesh and Assam were allocated power supply of 1,487.28 MW and 492.72 MW, respectively. NUPPL is a joint venture between NLC India and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, dedicated to producing clean and reliable power.
