New Women’s Health Clinic Opens in Mayo Town
A new women’s health clinic, called Women’s Health West, has recently opened its doors in east Mayo town. Dr. Carol Duffy, a local general practitioner (GP) from Ballina, is the driving force behind the clinic, which aims to provide quality care to women of all ages in the Mayo area and beyond.
Dr. Duffy, who now resides in Foxford with her family, understands the importance of dedicating time and attention to a woman’s gynecological health. With her extensive experience as a GP and a passion for empowering women, she is committed to offering holistic and evidence-based care.
The services offered at Women’s Health West are comprehensive and cover various aspects of women’s health. These include contraception care, menopause care, cervical and sexual health screenings, breast care, and review of general gynecological complaints such as menstrual problems, pelvic pain, PCOS, vulvovaginal problems, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, postnatal complaints, and subfertility.
To ensure accessibility, the clinic plans to offer both in-person consultations and remote video consultations. This flexibility allows women to seek care in a way that suits their preferences and needs.
Dr. Duffy’s qualifications and affiliations further demonstrate her expertise in the field. She graduated with honors from the University of Galway in 2006 and became a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) in 2013. Additionally, she holds postgraduate qualifications in Community Gynecology and Contraception with the ICGP and is a member of the British Menopause Society.
Speaking about her new venture, Dr. Duffy expressed her excitement about returning to her hometown and her passion for women’s health. She understands the challenges that many women face, particularly during the menopause transition, and aims to educate, empower, and care for women. By addressing any insecurities or feelings of embarrassment, Dr. Duffy hopes to help women regain their zest for life and improve their overall well-being.
