The world is on the verge of a new epidemic thanks to super gonorrhoea spreading like wild fire in China.
According to a new study, around 98% of those tested with the irritating sex disease were found to be totally resistant to antibiotics. It also emerged that the STI had been managing to evade medication for several years without anyone realising – with experts claiming the current strain of the infection proving to be a whopping 40 times more resistant to antibiotics than previously thought.
In the UK, medics normally give out the drug ciprofloxacin or azithromycin and cefixime . . . but all three are now pretty much entirely ineffective against it. The study, from the United States’ Centres for Disease Control and Prevention issued a warning about the pressing public health concern this now poses to the rest of the world.
