Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani has been elected as the new President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB). The decision was announced in an official statement released after a two-day executive meeting held in Mhow, Indore. The position has been vacant since April, after the passing of the former President, Maulana Rabey Hasani Nadwi.
According to the statement, Maulana Fazlur Raheem Mujaddidi was also appointed as the new General Secretary of AIMPLB. He will replace the Board’s previous General Secretary, Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani.
The AIMPLB is a non-governmental organization that was formed in 1973 to protect and promote the rights of Muslims in India. The organization is known for its efforts to preserve Muslim customs and traditions and has been instrumental in several landmark legal battles, particularly related to Muslim personal law.
Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, the newly-elected President, is a prominent Islamic scholar and the founder of the Islamic seminary, Al-Mahad al-Aali al-Islami. He has served as the Secretary-General of the AIMPLB in the past and is known for his conservative views on Muslim personal law.
The appointment of the new President and General Secretary comes at a time of heightened tensions between the Indian government and the Muslim community. The government’s recent decision to criminalize the practice of triple talaq (a controversial Islamic divorce practice) has been met with criticism from several Muslim groups, including the AIMPLB.
Despite the challenges, the AIMPLB remains committed to protecting the rights of Muslims in India and promoting awareness about their customs and traditions. With the appointment of its new leaders, the organization is poised to continue its important work and serve as a voice for the Muslim community in the country.
