To make commuting easier for Namma Metro users in Bengaluru, auto rickshaw app MetroMitra is set to launch its new WhatsApp chatbot feature in January 2024. With just three clicks, users will be able to book auto rides to and from metro stations using this new feature. However, it doesn’t stop there – the chatbot will also allow users to book rides to other destinations. The aim of this new feature is to help autorickshaw drivers connect with their customers more effectively, as stated by Rudramurthy, the general secretary of the Auto Rickshaw Drivers Union (ARDU).
Initially, there were plans to integrate the Namma Metro Whatsapp chatbot into the MetroMitra app, enabling metro commuters to book auto rides while purchasing their metro tickets. However, due to delays in integration by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the developers of MetroMitra decided to launch their own chatbot instead.
Rudramurthy mentioned that the chatbot feature is still a work in progress. They are planning to run a pilot soon and officially release the feature in the new year, allowing customers to book auto rides conveniently with just three simple clicks. Moreover, a meeting was held with all the auto drivers, and it was collectively decided to extend the Whatsapp chatbot feature beyond metro stations, which will significantly boost the revenue of the drivers.
MetroMitra has already recorded around 1000 downloads and currently has an active driver base of 300 drivers in Bengaluru.
This new feature is an exciting development for Namma Metro users, providing a quick and easy way to book auto rides to and from metro stations. The convenience of being able to book rides with just a few clicks will surely be appreciated by commuters. Additionally, the expansion of the feature to other destinations will further enhance the overall experience for both drivers and passengers.
As the launch date approaches, metro commuters can look forward to a more seamless and efficient journey with the help of MetroMitra’s WhatsApp chatbot.
