Title: Tony Announced as New Chair of Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants, Focusing on Promoting Cumbria as a Key Accountancy Hub and Hosting Exciting Events

Tony, a qualified Chartered Accountant, has recently been appointed as the new Chair of the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants (CSCA). The CSCA is a part of the Northern Society of Chartered Accountants, representing 4,000 members and ACA students from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) working across the Northeast of England, Teesside, Northern Yorkshire, and Cumbria.

With over 15 years of experience at Dodd & Co, Tony brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. He initially joined the firm’s tax team in 2005 and later transitioned into accounts. Currently, he heads up the small business start-up team at Dodd & Co and actively shares his expertise through various events with organizations such as the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, the University of Cumbria, and as an expert in residence for BIPC Cumbria.

Expressing his gratitude, Tony stated, I am honored to have been selected as the new Chair of the Cumberland Society of Chartered Accountants. I am genuinely excited to contribute to the society’s work, collaborating with fellow members and colleagues to support the accountancy profession in our region.

Tony is keen to establish a strong partnership with the ICAEW and has numerous ideas to benefit both professional members and those currently working towards full membership. After a period of social isolation due to the pandemic, Tony recognizes the desire for in-person training and networking opportunities. As a result, he intends to organize a variety of events for ICAEW members in the region. Additionally, Tony aims to promote Cumbria as an excellent place for accountants to work, fostering connections among existing members and hosting events that encourage talent retention in the area.

Alison Johnston, Staff Partner with Dodd & Co, expressed pride in Tony’s appointment, saying, We are extremely proud of Tony’s new role as Chair. We have no doubt that he will excel in this position. We will wholeheartedly support him throughout his tenure and witness his collaborations with other esteemed professionals in the Society furthering the development and support of the accountancy profession in our region.
