Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused the relatives of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi of seeking a bribe of Rs 2 crore from a cricketer in exchange for a government job. In an attempt to expose Channi’s relatives, Mann brought Jass Inder Singh, who allegedly had to pay the bribe, before the media. According to Mann, the then Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister, Hussan Lal had informed Channi about the case, and Channi had agreed to bring the case to the Cabinet for approval. However, when Jass Inder and his father met Jashan, Channi’s nephew, he allegedly agreed to fulfil the word of Channi but demanded Rs 2 crore from him for the job. The Chief Minister has also announced that the state government will now give a job to Jass Inder as per the stipulated norms.
