Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal celebrated Chopra’s maiden win, emphasizing that it would inspire future generations. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar lauded the athlete for creating history once again and making the nation proud. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his pride in Chopra’s achievement and extended his best wishes.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated Chopra, expressing the nation’s pride in his accomplishment. Not only did leaders celebrate Chopra’s victory, but celebrations also erupted in his native village of Khandra in Haryana’s Panipat. The athlete’s uncle, Bhim Chopra, stated that the family was confident in his ability to win gold.

Chopra’s winning throw of 88.17 meters secured him the gold medal. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the silver, and Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic took home the bronze. Chopra now joins the ranks of legendary shooter Abhinav Bindra as the only Indians to hold both Olympic and World Championships titles simultaneously.

Neeraj Chopra, who clinched the first-ever Olympic track and field gold for India in the 2021 Tokyo Games, previously won a silver in the 2022 World Championships.
