Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, has sanctioned Rs. 20 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the state level Aahar Committee. The funds will be used to implement the Aahar programme in the state. Over the past six years, a total of Rs. 228.76 crore has been sanctioned for the programme by the CM’s Relief Fund.
The Aahar centres will be situated in hospitals, bus stands, and other crowded areas of urban areas, providing healthy and balanced meals to impoverished individuals at a cost of only Rs. 5.
The goal of the Aahar programme is to meet the basic nutritional needs of the impoverished and to ensure that they receive a balanced and nutritious diet. The programme aims to provide essential food assistance to individuals in urban areas, particularly those who are unable to afford healthy meals. It strives to meet the needs of those who are most in need of food assistance, including impoverished families, the homeless, and other vulnerable populations.
In the past, the Aahar programme has been successful in providing food assistance to citizens in need, and it is expected to continue to do so in the future. As part of the programme, the government has partnered with a variety of organizations to ensure that the food provided is of high quality and meets the nutritional needs of the poor.
Overall, the decision by the Chief Minister to provide funding to the Aahar programme demonstrates a commitment to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable populations in Odisha. It is an important step towards ensuring that everyone in the state has access to healthy and nutritious food, regardless of their income or socioeconomic status. Through this programme, the government is working towards making Odisha a healthier and more equitable place to live.
