National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX), which is an automotive proving ground established under the National Automotive Board (NAB), has collaborated with TiHAN, IIT Hyderabad. The two organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 08, 2023, to work together in the field of autonomous navigation testing facilities.
This partnership is expected to bring significant benefits to both NATRAX and TiHAN, and also to make India ‘Atmanirbhar’. According to Prof B S Murty, Director, IITH, this collaboration will be a game-changer for both organizations. The agreement paves the way for joint research and development in areas of autonomous navigation testing, a field that is rapidly growing due to the increasing demand for self-driving vehicles.
NATRAX is a state-of-the-art facility that caters to the automotive industry, providing test tracks for various types of vehicles such as cars, bikes, and trucks. It is equipped with world-class facilities such as high-speed track testing, wet skid pad, hill climb bridges, and more.
On the other hand, TiHAN (Testbed for Autonomous Navigation) is a unique facility that provides end-to-end solutions for testing and validation of autonomous vehicles. It is equipped with testing infrastructure, software development tools, and expertise, which helps companies in the autonomous vehicle industry test their technologies and ensure their systems are safe and reliable.
The MoU between NATRAX and TiHAN will enable the two organizations to collaborate and share knowledge and expertise in their respective fields. This joint effort will lead to the development of better testing facilities and technologies for autonomous vehicles.
In conclusion, this partnership between NATRAX and TiHAN is a significant step towards India‘s progress in the autonomous vehicle industry. With the two organizations collaborating, India can become more self-sufficient as well as provide better testing facilities and technologies for the world.
