Seven-time Nascar Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is set to make a comeback in 2024, joining Legacy Motor Club as the driver of the No. 84 car. The semi-retired Nascar legend will participate in at least three races, with AdventHealth sponsoring him for those events.
AdventHealth, known for its previous partnerships with Trackhouse Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing, will move over to support Johnson in three races in the upcoming season. Additionally, the healthcare firm will sponsor Erik Jones’ No. 43 car for six races in 2024.
Johnson expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, This is a wonderful day for Legacy M.C. AdventHealth believes health should be measured in terms of the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. This partnership is a natural fit for our club, and I know we will do great things together. I can’t wait for this season to get started.
The races where Johnson will compete in the AdventHealth colors include Texas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the highly anticipated AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway. Meanwhile, Erik Jones’ car will feature the firm’s logo at the Daytona 500.
Terry Shaw, president and CEO of AdventHealth, expressed excitement about the partnership, saying, We are thrilled to partner with Legacy Motor Club and drivers Erik Jones and Jimmie Johnson and are looking forward to a winning 2024 race season. AdventHealth has been a sponsor in the sport since 2015, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide care for this team and the passionate Nascar fan base. Together, we can make a tremendous impact in our communities and ensure more people have the opportunity to access whole-person care.
It is worth noting that AdventHealth sponsored Ross Chastain for six races in 2023 and nine races in 2022.
Although initial reports suggested that Johnson would compete in the 2024 Daytona 500, the Chicago Street Race, and the return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, these races were not included in the recently released schedule by Legacy Motor Club.
In 2024, Legacy Motor Club will become part of the Toyota Racing family as a second major team alongside Joe Gibbs Racing. The team will consist of two cars, with John Hunter Nemechek piloting the No. 42 car. When Johnson makes his 2024 season debut, it will be the first time in his Cup career that he drives a car other than a Chevrolet.
Jimmie Johnson’s return to Nascar in 2024 promises excitement for fans around the world. With AdventHealth as his sponsor and Legacy Motor Club as his team, Johnson is eager to make an impact on and off the racetrack. The upcoming races will be a chance for the Nascar legend to showcase his skills and continue his legacy in the sport he loves.
