The foundation of Narlıdere Tennis Club laid for Izmir’s most comprehensive tennis center
The foundation for the Narlıdere Tennis Club was laid in Izmir, marking the beginning of the construction of the city’s most comprehensive tennis center. The project is a collaborative effort between the Narlıdere Municipality and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Mayor Tunç Soyer, who expressed his ambition to make Izmir the center of sports.
Mayor Soyer highlighted the significance of the project and the city’s dedication to promoting sports. He stated, We are working towards making Izmir the center of sports. In the coming week, we hope that all the work we have done in the field of youth and sports will be recognized in Europe as we receive the Youth Capital award. Izmir will proudly bring Turkey the title of European Youth Capital for the first time.
The Narlıdere Tennis Club will be located in Sahilevleri and is set to become one of the most comprehensive tennis centers and gyms in Izmir. The facility will include 155 tennis courts, a swimming pool, children’s playground, athlete recreation rooms, a restaurant, cafe, fitness center, sauna-hammam, and a game room. With an investment budget of 4 million TL, the center aims to increase the number of licensed athletes in Izmir and contribute significantly to the tennis infrastructure of the country.
Mayor Soyer emphasized the city’s commitment to sports, stating, During the past period, Izmir has hosted world and European championships in various sports branches. We have established ourselves as a hub for important tournaments, attracting athletes from all over the world. He added, I believe that the Narlıdere Tennis Club will train athletes who will achieve international success, further establishing Turkey as a rising force in sports.
Narlıdere Mayor Ali Engin expressed his gratitude to Mayor Soyer for his collaboration and support in the development of the facility. He said, We are performing a public duty, and our aim is to serve the public effectively within our area of responsibility.
The new tennis center in Izmir will not only cater to professional athletes but also serve as a platform for grassroots tennis development. It aims to bring national and international tournaments to the city and promote Izmir’s image as a global sporting destination.
The Narlıdere Tennis Club is expected to be completed within a reasonable timeframe, and the city eagerly awaits the opportunities it will bring for tennis enthusiasts and athletes alike.
