The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has inspected facilities ahead of the commencement of next week’s Hajj rituals. The Deputy Coordinator Makkah Office Operations, Alidu Shutti, accompanied by other officials, visited all 18 field offices to determine the state of readiness of the facilities. The visitations were made to familiarize and get necessary updates on the preparedness of the field offices to serve Nigerian pilgrims. During the oversight, issues were raised and discussions concluded in the interest of the pilgrims. The officials discussed tent facilities, cooling systems, beddings, toiletries, cleanliness/sanitation, feeding, among others. The Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah is a mandatory religious obligation that must be performed by every Muslim who is physically and financially able to perform it at least once in a lifetime. This year’s Hajj is expected to start next week without COVID-19 restrictions.
