Mumbai Police Cracks 12-Hour Kidnapping Case, Man Arrested on Train: Revenge Saga
In a remarkable display of efficiency and determination, the Nagpada police in Mumbai successfully solved a kidnapping case involving a 5-year-old girl within just 12 hours. The accused, identified as Rotin Ghosh (35), allegedly kidnapped the child as an act of revenge due to his unrequited love for the girl’s mother. What makes this story even more astonishing is the fact that Ghosh was apprehended by the police while on a moving train.
The incident unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday when a 28-year-old woman approached the Nagpada police station to file a complaint. She alleged that Rotin Ghosh, someone known to her, had taken her daughter without her consent. According to the woman, Ghosh had been persistently pressuring her to be with him despite her repeated rejections.
Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Kumar Thakur wasted no time in ordering an inquiry, fully understanding the seriousness of the matter. With Police Inspector Kiran Chougule leading the investigation, the Nagpada Police collaborated with the Government Railway Police (GRP) to search for the accused. It was revealed that Ghosh had left Mumbai on a mail train, prompting the authorities to check the Amritsar Express and Howrah Express at Igatpuri Railway Station. Unfortunately, they did not find him there.
However, a major breakthrough came when the police advised the woman to make a video call to Ghosh. During the call, it became evident that Ghosh had wrapped the girl in a sheet. The police took a screenshot of this video, capturing an image of the sheet. Through further technical investigation, the police discovered that Ghosh was traveling to West Bengal on the Shaligram Express. Armed with this crucial information, the Nagpada police informed the GRP and shared the photo of the girl and sheet. They also suggested that Ghosh might be hiding in a place like a train restroom. Acting swiftly, the GRP checked the train’s restroom and found Ghosh hiding there with the girl.
DCP Akbar Pathan revealed that Ghosh had hidden the girl under a sheet, which ultimately helped the police identify him. After safely rescuing the girl, the Nagpada police arrested Ghosh and brought him to the police station.
Further investigation unveiled that the complainant woman has twin children, a girl, and a boy. As the accused had frequently visited their house, both children recognized him, leading the girl to trust him and go with him willingly.
The Nagpada police’s prompt action, coordination with other authorities, and clever use of technology played a significant role in resolving this harrowing kidnapping case. Their dedication to ensuring the safety of the girl and swift apprehension of the accused deserves commendation. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activities promptly to the law enforcement authorities.
