The President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), J.P. Nadda, has criticized the government of Andhra Pradesh‘s YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), accusing the party of being corrupt and overseeing lawlessness in the state. Speaking at a public event in Srikalahasti, Tirupati, he highlighted the levels of corruption in multiple areas, including mining, sand, liquor, land, and education. He also accused the YSRCP of turning the state economy into an alcohol economy and claimed that there was no law enforcement, leading to rampant lawlessness. Nadda also criticized the government for not building a state capital and failing to contribute towards central schemes for development. He urged people to support the BJP and emphasized the importance of having a transparent and corruption-free government.
Nadda also spoke about the various projects launched by the Modi government in Andhra Pradesh and explained how they were benefiting people in the state. He claimed that in the last nine years, there had been a shift in the country’s political culture from vote-bank politics to report-card, development, accountable, and responsive government politics. Meanwhile, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who recently joined BJP, said that regional parties were harming the interests of states. He believes that only national parties can do justice to states. Reddy said Andhra Pradesh would develop only if BJP came to power in the state.
Kiran Kumar Reddy also shared the example of his allocation of INR 7,400 crore for providing drinking water to Chittoor district when he was the chief minister and alleged that TDP and YSRCP neglected the project when they came to power. The former Congress leader also said that he took time to consider whether he should remain in public life or not.
