A Tennessee resident and his companion have gone missing during their birthday celebration in Alaska, leaving authorities puzzled and launching a search and rescue operation. Jonas Bare, who recently turned 50, and Cynthia Hovesepian failed to board their return flight and have not been in contact with their family. The Fairbanks Police Department became involved in the investigation when the couple’s luggage was discovered still in their accommodations. Chena Hot Springs Resort, where their vehicle was found, is an area known to have no reception or service on its trails. In fact, a hiking guide website provides a warning about the potential to get lost in this region and advises hikers to ensure someone knows if they do not return.
