In a groundbreaking development for unity and social progress in Malawi, Minister of Local Government, Unity, and Culture Richard Chimwendo Banda has highlighted the unparalleled influence of sports in fostering national integration, social development, and mitigating ethnic conflicts. Speaking at the launch of the construction of Mwanza Stadium in Mwanza Central Constituency, the Minister emphasized the transformative power of sports in enhancing the identity of societies and the image of the nation.
Beyond solely hosting sports activities, the stadium will also serve as a significant revenue generator for the council, while simultaneously transforming the face of the district. Minister Chimwendo Banda, who is also the National Youth Director of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), believes that sports offer a critical means of deepening cooperation among communities and building bridges of unity and harmony within our societies.
The construction of Mwanza Stadium in Mwanza Central Constituency is receiving praise from members of both ruling and opposition political parties. Nicholas Dausi, the Member of Parliament for the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the constituency, expressed gratitude to the government for granting the people of Mwanza this much-needed facility. Dausi underscored the importance of sportsmanship in social life, emphasizing its role as a unifying agent among individuals.

Minister Chimwendo Banda assured the people of Mwanza that the government will dispatch fertilizer earlier this year compared to the previous year, ensuring timely agricultural support. Additionally, he announced that all ADMARC deposits in the country will be opened to provide access to cheaper maize prices, alleviating the burden on local residents.
