Mumbai Police Faces Hoax Bomb Threat, Investigation Underway
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 30 (ANI): The Mumbai Police have initiated an investigation after receiving a hoax bomb threat call. An unidentified person contacted the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation control room, claiming that there was a potential bombing in Mumbai. However, after further investigation, it was determined that the call was a false alarm.
A case has been registered, and the Mumbai Police are actively pursuing the matter.
According to a police official, the caller has been identified as Nasimul Rafiul Hasan Shaikh, and the Special teams of Malvani Police Station successfully traced him. It was during the subsequent inquiries that the police discovered it to be a hoax call. The Mumbai Police have registered a case under the relevant section of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) in response to the incident.
This is not the first time such a hoax call has been made. On June 23, an anonymous caller contacted the police control room, claiming that there would be bomb blasts in the Andheri and Kurla areas of Mumbai at 6:30 p.m. on June 24. The caller went on to say that a bomb blast was also planned for Pune and that he needed two lakh rupees to prevent it. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the caller was from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh.
The Mumbai Police have registered a case under various sections of the IPC in relation to this incident as well.
