Title: Multiple Women Stabbed in Random Attack at Louisiana Tech University

Four women were stabbed on Monday morning at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, in what appears to be a random attack by a student. The incident left three of the victims with serious injuries, who were immediately transported to a hospital in Shreveport. Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker confirmed that the suspect, a 23-year-old man, was apprehended by campus police within minutes of the stabbings.

According to Ruston Police Chief Steve Rogers, the suspect was treated for unspecified injuries and is currently being booked into jail. He will face four counts of attempted second-degree murder. The weapon used in the attack was determined to be a folding knife with a blade measuring about four inches in length.

Among the victims, one was a graduate student, while the others were not affiliated with the university. Two of the injured individuals were initially hospitalized in Ruston and later transferred to Shreveport for further treatment. Authorities have stated that two of the victims remain in critical but stable condition, while the third is in stable condition. The fourth victim, however, declined medical treatment.

Both university officials and the local police refer to the incident as a random act of violence. Louisiana Tech Police Chief Randall Hermes commented that it seemed like the suspect approached the victims from behind, catching them off guard.

During a news conference with Mayor Walker, Chief Rogers revealed that the suspect had previous contact with the police approximately a week earlier. However, he provided limited information about the incident, stating that it was not considered criminal at the time and the suspect was deemed fine following investigations.

The attack took place shortly after 9 a.m. at Tech’s Lambright Sports and Wellness Center, a recreation facility open to both students and the Ruston community. Campus police received a call regarding the incident at 9:08 a.m., and the suspect was taken into custody just four minutes later.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities will continue to work towards understanding the motivations behind the attack. Meanwhile, the university community and local residents are left in shock following this alarming incident that took place on campus.

The safety of students and staff at Louisiana Tech University remains a top priority. The entire community hopes for a swift recovery for the victims and supports the ongoing efforts to ensure the well-being of everyone on the campus premises.
