A motorcyclist sustained injuries on Monday morning after attempting to avoid a cable that was knocked into the road by a mechanical digger. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 am in Vjal l-Avjazzjoni, Luqa, according to the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that while conducting works, a mechanical digger unintentionally hit a cable, causing it to fall onto the road. At that moment, a motorcyclist was passing by and swerved to avoid the cable, resulting in the rider falling off his bike. The injured motorcyclist, a 53-year-old man residing in Swieqi, was promptly provided with first aid and then transferred to Mater Dei Hospital. His injuries were subsequently classified as grievous.
The police have initiated an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
