A motorcyclist has been hospitalized after a collision on M-40 in Cass County, Michigan. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 19, when the motorcyclist, identified as 38-year-old Andrew Avara of South Bend, was struck by another vehicle while attempting to pass it on the road. According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, the crash took place south of Dutch Settlement St. in Newberg Township at around 4:10 p.m.

The initial investigation revealed that Avara, who was traveling northbound on M-40, was in the process of turning left when the collision occurred. The other vehicle involved was driven by 57-year-old Drew Davis from Vicksburg, who was also traveling northbound on the same road. Davis attempted to pass Avara on the left side, leading to the collision with his vehicle.

Following the accident, Davis was immediately taken to Three Rivers Health to receive medical treatment for his injuries. It is worth noting that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and helmets at the time of the incident. Additionally, law enforcement officials have determined that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in causing the crash.

Their focus will be on understanding the factors that contributed to the accident and determining any potential liability. As of now, it is unclear whether any charges will be filed as a result of the incident.
