Under the banner of Save Mhadei – Save Tiger, citizens in Vasco, Goa embarked on a motorcycle rally from Chicalim to various village panchayats across Mormugao taluka. The group aimed to urge residents to adopt a resolution supporting the fight to save the Mhadei river, known as Goa’s lifeline. The rally was flagged off by Chicalim parish priest Fr Bolmax Pereira, who emphasized the need to raise awareness among the people about protecting Goa’s forests and the Mhadei river. He also criticized Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement on Mhadei’s water diversion issue, calling it a lie. Pereira said that the government has failed to guard the interests of people and the environment. The group wants the railway double-tracking project to end and is committed to protecting Goa’s future from further disaster.
