Hyderabad Police Arrests Mother for Failing to Stop Son’s Public Stripping Incident
In a shocking incident that unfolded on the night of August 6 in Balaji Nagar, Hyderabad, a woman has been arrested by the Rachakonda police for failing to prevent her son from publicly stripping a young woman. The accused, identified as Peddamaraiah, misbehaved with a young woman who was walking on the road and proceeded to inappropriately touch her. When the victim tried to defend herself, he violently tore her clothes.
What makes this incident even more distressing is the fact that Peddamaraiah’s mother, Nagamma, who was present at the scene, did nothing to intervene and help the distressed woman. When another woman stepped in and questioned the accused, he even attempted to attack her. The victim was left standing on the road without clothes for approximately 15 minutes until some bystanders intervened, covered her, and informed the police.
Following a complaint filed by the 28-year-old victim, the police promptly registered a case and arrested Peddamaraiah. The accused, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including outraging modesty, criminal assault, intimidation, and criminal intent towards a common cause. Notably, Peddamaraiah’s mother has been held accountable for her failure to prevent her son’s actions.
The audacity and brutality of this crime have sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about law and order. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has strongly condemned the incident and has sought a detailed report from Telangana’s Director General of Police.
NCW urges prompt investigation, medical support, and expects a detailed report within 7 days from the DGP, the Commission tweeted.
