A tragic incident took place in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman and her five children were killed after a fire broke out in their house on Wednesday night. The cause of the fire is unknown as of yet, but it is believed that the family was asleep when it happened.
District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan confirmed the news and informed that the deceased have been identified as Sangeeta (38) and her five children Ankit (10), Lakshmeena (9), Rita (3), Gita (2), and Babu (1). The fire brigade reached the spot as soon as they received the information and doused the flames.
Upon arrival, the DM and the Superintendent of Police (SP) ordered an investigation into the matter and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The family was residing in Urdha village in the Ramkoli police station area in Kushinagar.
According to the District Magistrate, a man named Navmi along with his wife and children slept at night after having dinner. Navmi slept outside due to the heat, while his wife and children slept inside the house. Suddenly a fire broke out in the house, and Navmi tried to extinguish it, but it had gotten out of control. The house was situated on the bank of a canal, so the villagers could not make it in time, and the fire ended up spreading significantly.
DM Ramesh Ranjan and SP Dhawal Jaiswal visited the village and expressed condolences to the family. The officials announced a relief of Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and the police will continue to investigate. This tragic incident highlights the importance of fire safety measures and awareness, especially in rural areas where resources may be limited.
