Monsoon Session of UP Assembly Sees Political Exchange; Owaisi Criticized for Divisiveness
The monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly kicked off on Monday, providing a platform for leaders from various parties to express their opinions on key matters. This resulted in a lively exchange of statements, highlighting the diverse perspectives within the state’s political landscape.
One of the highlights of the session was Congress leader Surendra Rajput criticizing AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for allegedly having a narrow agenda. Rajput accused Owaisi of only focusing on Hindu-Muslim divisions and claimed that he ran the agenda of the BJP instead of the agenda of Hindustan (India). Rajput challenged Owaisi to take responsibility for his actions in Telangana and questioned his efforts towards fostering unity.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Naresh Uttam Patel took a different approach by sidestepping the question about Owaisi’s statement. Instead, Patel criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic policies, claiming that they were detrimental to the country’s economy. Patel expressed concern over rising inflation and increasing unemployment, emphasizing the need for accountability in addressing these issues.
In response, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak came to the defense of the BJP’s governance and its dedication to the welfare of the people. Asserting that the government was focused on the development of Uttar Pradesh, Pathak dismissed the opposition’s criticism as mere distractions.
Prior to the session, Owaisi had criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of misleading Muslims in Uttar Pradesh by claiming to preserve real Hindutva. Owaisi questioned why Muslims in the state were being deceived again after having given a significant number of votes to Yadav in the last Assembly elections.
