Madhya Pradesh has been covered by the monsoon, with heavy rain falling on the state capital, Bhopal, leading to power cuts in several residential areas. The rainwater also entered houses in certain parts of the city. An orange alert has been issued for very heavy rain in Chhindwara and Seoni districts in the next 24 hours, with heavy rain also expected in other areas of the state such as Balaghat, Dindori, and Gwalior. The meteorological department has predicted widespread rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh over the next 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, several cities and towns in Madhya Pradesh experienced significant rainfall. Churhat recorded 100 mm rainfall while Bina and Bhind recorded 70 mm each. Mehgaon and Chaurai recorded 60 mm rainfall. Meanwhile, Mangawan and Ranapur recorded 50 mm each. On Sunday, Jabalpur recorded 22.2 mm while Guna recorded 16 mm. The meteorological department also announced that monsoon has advanced into the region and has issued warning flash floods in certain parts of the state until June 28.

A low-pressure system over the north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coast has created a cyclonic circulation over south Uttar Pradesh resulting in scattered light to moderate rain over Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.

While the monsoon season brings relief to drought-stricken farmers, it also poses the risk of floods and other water-related incidents. The meteorological department’s orange alert is a warning for residents to take the necessary precautions, such as staying indoors, keeping an eye on water levels, and following any instructions from the authorities.

It is vital for people to remain aware of the weather reports and any warnings that are issued by the government, especially in the monsoon season. It is a time when the risk of flooding and other natural disasters is at its highest. People should take necessary steps to stay safe and prepare themselves for any eventuality.
